What I looked for

 I looked for happiness & found joy
I looked for passion & found purpose
I looked for perfection & found beauty
I looked for riches & found wealth
I never looked for love
Love was always within me
Just like all the things I needed
And not the things I wanted
Were always there.

When your voice has faltered
If you can't scream or shout
You have the choice
To "Write It Out"
Let the pen be your sword
A weapon of redemption
Let the lines on the page
Draw paths to freedom
Cut the chains of silent rage
Illustrate the door
You once looked for
See the sky full of open portals
Unclip your wings and soar.

 The calendar date is 8/8

21st year of the 21st century

We're all embarking on new beginnings

Today I can say what that means to me

I'm not a rapper nor a poet

Just an understanding that I'm lyrically-inclined

Accept my call to be a writer

Showing the world what I see

When I read between the lines

Whenever I push a pen across paper

Or bang on and on the digital device's keys

It's often a petition or prayer

About the things in my life 

That bring us to our knees 

Sometimes it's simply a reflection

Upon an observation of a temporary thing

Sometimes I express my adoration 

For what I find beautiful & it makes my heart sing

Whatever the case may be, my expression is intentional

You may find it boring or unconventional 

You may feel uncomfortable in learning 

"I don't care" about your judgment of this matter

And it's already okay (and always was) for me

What I aspire to be, is not controlled by

The gaze of passing strangers

I see no danger in the undertaking of my life

As it becomes fully formed, like butterfly wings

If perchance you encounter these words 

I hope your mind is expanding with wisdom

Not my own, but the wisdom of the ages

From the encounters you've had at 

All of life's various growth stages

I pray you cocoon yourself in what nourishes your growth

And when you emerge, you are better

And wiser, faster and stronger 

I pray you are rewarded for nurturing your own rebirth

And the sky in which you fly

Is the vast expanse of the universe.

Super-late to update #MyBeadingYear
Lots of twists & turns on
An uncertain path
Working on staying focused
Time marches forward so fast
Took a Hawaiian vacation
For my mental restoration
Returned to a work situation
Riddled with many frustrations
But it's neither here nor there
God is great, God is everywhere
Most importantly
I know that God lives within me
So, empowered with divine creativity
I move with peace, to experience
Increase, exponentially & infinitely.

Weary

We are weary but we press on

For the magic that we make

We keep the lights on

Art is life and we're reproducing

After our own kind

May God bless us, protect us

And keep us

As we move toward the future

And leave the past behind.

Leave me to worship in peace

Leave me the semblance of tranquility

Allow my trembling to cease

And release the false sense of humility

Words I cannot utter from my lips

Spill from my eyes in liquid form

Betraying my guarded countenance

Whispering the pain of a heart so torn

Let me lay in His presence 

At His feet, unashamed

Arms widespread, ears wide open

I listen for Him to call my name.

Lingering Thought

I could make better use of my time

By not pretending

Everything is fine

I could make better use of my day

By not pretending

Everything is okay

I would be much more productive

Once I succeed in

Kicking out these thoughts

The ones that are intrusive

The ones that are destructive

Taking up space in my head

Making up things no one said

Creating scenes that 

Don't need to be seen

Staining the purity

Making me feel unclean

I pray for the balance

Returning to center

Rededicated to 

Getting myself together

It feels like a crime to be sad

When I can't even remember

Anything happening

In my own life that was bad

Maybe I'm slowly going mad

Existential dread is a thing, right?

Where nothing is wrong

But you can't see the light

You're afraid to open your eyes

Anxious about an unpleasant surprise

Waiting on the other side 

I heard that this is a type of grieving

But I can't afford the cost of fear

I refuse to stop believing

In the goodness I already carry

Generationally blessed

Until I'm dead and buried

My life is just a seed in the ground

In the Earth of this Universe

With every layer of concrete I face

I resolve to break through

And everything I'm longing to be

And working to do

Is manifesting properly 

At the appointed time

I rise again and again and again

I'm coming to get what's mine.

Happiness looks for me
He's attracted to my smile
And everything about me
His cousin's name is Joy
And she is always with me
Sometimes we all get together
And have a little party

When Sadness wants to party-crash
And show her ass
Joy chases her away
And gently tells me
